Follicular Miniaturization

Meaning

Follicular miniaturization refers to the progressive reduction in the size and diameter of hair follicles on the scalp. This biological process leads to the production of increasingly thinner, shorter, and less pigmented hair shafts, eventually transforming terminal hairs into vellus-like hairs. It represents a fundamental pathological change observed in various forms of alopecia, most notably androgenetic alopecia.
