Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis

Meaning

Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a kidney disease involving scarring within specific, partial segments of some renal glomeruli, the kidney’s filtering units. This damage impairs effective blood filtration. Vital proteins then abnormally leak into the urine, disrupting normal renal function and leading to progressive kidney damage.
