Fertility Markers

Meaning

Fertility Markers are specific biochemical substances, hormones, or physiological indicators that are measured to assess an individual’s reproductive potential and the functional status of their hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. These biomarkers provide crucial, objective data points for diagnosing conditions like primary ovarian insufficiency or male hypogonadism and for predicting response to assisted reproductive technologies. Key markers in women include Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), and Estradiol, which collectively reflect ovarian reserve and cycle health. In men, testosterone and FSH levels, alongside semen analysis, are essential metrics for evaluating spermatogenesis and Leydig cell function.
