Fertility Axis Monitoring

Meaning

Fertility Axis Monitoring refers to the systematic clinical evaluation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, the primary neuroendocrine system governing reproductive function in both males and females. This process involves serial measurement of key pituitary and gonadal hormones, such as Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), testosterone, and estradiol, to assess the integrity and balance of the feedback loops. The goal is to diagnose potential endocrine causes of infertility, track the efficacy of hormonal interventions, or anticipate age-related changes in reproductive capacity. Monitoring provides a quantitative snapshot of reproductive health.
