Femoral Neck

Meaning

The femoral neck is the robust, cylindrical segment of bone that connects the spherical head of the femur to its elongated shaft. This critical anatomical structure projects superomedially from the greater trochanter, typically forming an angle of approximately 125 degrees with the femoral shaft. It serves as a vital mechanical bridge, transmitting forces from the pelvis through the hip joint to the lower limb.
