Factorial Trial

Meaning

A Factorial Trial is a specialized clinical trial design used to efficiently test the effects of two or more distinct interventions, or “factors,” simultaneously within a single study population. This design involves randomizing participants to all possible combinations of the interventions, including groups that receive only one treatment or a placebo. The primary advantage is the statistical ability to assess the main effect of each intervention and, crucially, to determine if there is an interaction or synergy between them.
