Exogenous Testosterone Suppression

Meaning

Exogenous Testosterone Suppression describes the predictable physiological downregulation of the body’s intrinsic testicular hormone production secondary to the introduction of external testosterone preparations. This phenomenon is a direct consequence of negative feedback signaling within the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis. Clinically, this means the testes cease or drastically reduce their own androgen synthesis while external sources are present. We monitor this suppression to manage treatment cycles appropriately.
