Exogenous Hormone Delivery

Meaning

Exogenous Hormone Delivery is the clinical administration of hormones that originate from a source outside the body, with the explicit purpose of supplementing or replacing deficient endogenous production. This process is a foundational and common practice in endocrinology, most often utilized in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to restore physiological balance and effectively mitigate the debilitating symptoms of hormonal insufficiency, such such as those experienced during menopause or andropause. The delivery of these agents can be achieved through a variety of routes, including oral, transdermal, injectable, or subcutaneous pellet implantation.
