Exogenous Gonadotropins

Meaning

Exogenous gonadotropins are pharmaceutical preparations of hormones that replicate the actions of naturally occurring follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), normally produced by the pituitary gland. These agents are administered to individuals to stimulate gonadal activity, often to induce follicular development in ovaries or spermatogenesis in testes. Their primary purpose is to bypass or supplement deficient endogenous hormone production, facilitating reproduction.
