Exogenous Androgen-Induced Hypogonadism

Meaning

Exogenous Androgen-Induced Hypogonadism is a state of impaired endogenous gonadal function, specifically reduced testosterone production and often spermatogenesis in males, caused by the administration of external, or exogenous, androgenic substances. This is a form of secondary hypogonadism, as the primary defect lies in the pituitary gland’s suppression rather than the testes themselves. The condition is a direct consequence of the body’s negative feedback loop being overridden by the administered hormone.
