Exogenous Androgen

Meaning

Exogenous Androgen refers to any androgenic steroid, such as testosterone or its synthetic derivatives, administered to the body from a source external to the body’s natural endocrine synthesis in the testes or adrenals. This is commonly implemented in clinical settings for the management of documented hypogonadism via Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). Such external administration effectively bypasses the body’s intrinsic regulatory feedback controls.
