Exercise Induced Cortisol

Meaning

Exercise Induced Cortisol refers to the transient, physiological elevation in the circulating concentration of the primary glucocorticoid hormone, cortisol, that is observed during and immediately following periods of physical exertion. This hormonal response is a normal and necessary component of the body’s stress response, serving to mobilize energy substrates and modulate the initial inflammatory cascade. The magnitude and clearance rate of this increase are important clinical markers for assessing training load and overall recovery capacity.
