Exemestane

Meaning

Exemestane is a third-generation, irreversible, steroidal aromatase inhibitor utilized clinically to significantly reduce the production of estrogen in postmenopausal women and in other specific hormonal contexts. Classified as a suicide inhibitor, it permanently deactivates the aromatase enzyme upon binding, thereby blocking the conversion of androgen precursors into estrogens. This pharmacological action is primarily employed in the management of hormone-sensitive malignancies and in certain hormonal balance protocols.
