Executive Function Resilience

Meaning

Executive function resilience is the measure of the brain’s capacity to maintain optimal cognitive control, including working memory, flexible thinking, and inhibitory control, despite exposure to stress, hormonal fluctuations, or neurological challenges. This term describes the robustness of the frontal lobe systems responsible for goal-directed behavior and complex thought processes. High resilience indicates a greater ability to adapt and perform effectively under cognitive load or during periods of systemic stress.
