Estrogenic Conversion

Meaning

Estrogenic Conversion is the essential biochemical pathway in which androgens, predominantly testosterone and androstenedione, are enzymatically and irreversibly transformed into the active estrogen hormones, estradiol and estrone. This process is a key source of circulating estrogens in men and post-menopausal women, occurring in peripheral tissues like adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver. It plays a significant role in maintaining skeletal integrity, cardiovascular health, and central nervous system function across the lifespan.
