Estrogen Suppression

Meaning

Estrogen suppression is the clinical strategy or physiological state characterized by the deliberate reduction of circulating estrogen concentrations to therapeutic levels. This is often implemented in the management of hormone-sensitive conditions, such as certain cancers, or as a consequence of physiological states like low energy availability. The degree and method of suppression must be carefully managed, as excessive or prolonged reduction can negatively impact bone mineral density, cardiovascular health, and cognitive function.
