Estrogen Signaling Disruption

Meaning

Estrogen signaling disruption describes the pathological interference with the normal biological actions of estrogen, a crucial steroid hormone, at the level of its synthesis, transport, receptor binding, or metabolism. This interference can result in either an inappropriate activation or a blunting of estrogenic effects, leading to a cascade of adverse health outcomes. Clinically, disruption is associated with conditions ranging from reproductive dysfunction and bone density issues to increased risk of hormone-sensitive malignancies. It compromises the fundamental endocrine messaging system responsible for numerous physiological processes in both sexes.
