Estrogen-Sensitive Cancers

Meaning

Estrogen-sensitive cancers are a distinct classification of malignancies, predominantly certain types of breast and endometrial cancers, whose cellular proliferation and survival are directly dependent upon or significantly stimulated by the presence of estrogen hormones. These tumors are characterized by the expression of functional estrogen receptors (ER) within their cells, making them responsive to endocrine signals. This crucial sensitivity dictates the clinical use of hormonal therapies as a primary treatment strategy.
