Estrogen Receptor 1

Meaning

Estrogen Receptor 1 ($text{ER}alpha$) is a primary nuclear receptor protein that mediates the majority of estrogen’s proliferative and growth-promoting effects in various target tissues. It is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, upon activation, regulates the expression of genes involved in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and metabolic function. This receptor is a central player in both normal endocrine physiology and in hormone-sensitive pathologies.
