Estrogen Rebound

Meaning

Estrogen rebound refers to the rapid and often excessive increase in endogenous estrogen production that can occur following the abrupt cessation of certain hormone-suppressing therapies. Clinically, this phenomenon is sometimes observed after discontinuing treatments that temporarily suppressed ovarian or adrenal steroidogenesis. This abrupt hormonal surge can lead to a transient exacerbation of estrogen-sensitive symptoms, such as acne or mood changes.
