Estrogen Dependence

Meaning

Estrogen Dependence describes a biological state in which the proliferation, growth, and functional viability of a specific tissue or cell population are fundamentally reliant upon the presence and sustained signaling activity of estrogen hormones. This dependence is often discussed in the context of reproductive physiology, where tissues like the endometrium and breast are physiologically dependent on estrogen for normal development and function. Clinically, the term is most critical in oncology, where many breast and endometrial cancers exploit estrogen signaling for malignant growth.
