Estradiol Threshold

Meaning

The estradiol threshold refers to the minimum effective concentration of the potent estrogen hormone, estradiol (E2), required in a specific tissue or the systemic circulation to elicit a desired therapeutic or protective physiological effect. This value is highly individualized and is a critical parameter in hormonal replacement therapy. Maintaining E2 levels above this lower threshold is necessary for protective benefits, such as the preservation of bone density and optimal cognitive function. Exceeding an upper threshold, however, can increase the risk of adverse effects.
