Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents

Meaning

Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents (ESAs) are pharmaceutical compounds that stimulate bone marrow red blood cell production. These agents chemically mimic endogenous erythropoietin, a kidney-derived hormone essential for regulating erythropoiesis. Their therapeutic aim is to correct anemia by increasing the circulating red blood cell mass.
