ERK-CREB Pathway

Meaning

The ERK-CREB Pathway represents a fundamental intracellular signaling cascade that transduces extracellular stimuli into specific gene expression changes within the cell nucleus. This pathway involves the sequential activation of Extracellular signal-regulated Kinases (ERK) which then phosphorylate and activate the cAMP Response Element-Binding protein (CREB), thereby regulating various cellular processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and synaptic plasticity.
