Epitalon

Meaning

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, derived from the naturally occurring epithalamin peptide found in the pineal gland. Its primary association lies with the activation of telomerase, an enzyme critical for maintaining the length of telomeres, which are protective caps at the ends of chromosomes. This peptide is considered for its potential influence on cellular longevity and various biological processes.
