Epididymis

Meaning

The Epididymis is a long, coiled duct that connects the efferent ducts of the testis to the vas deferens in the male reproductive system. This highly specialized, androgen-dependent organ is physiologically essential for the post-testicular maturation, concentration, and storage of spermatozoa. Its environment is meticulously regulated to allow sperm to acquire the necessary motility and fertilizing capacity required for successful reproduction.
