Environmental Command

Meaning

Environmental Command describes the powerful, directive influence exerted by external factors—such as light exposure, temperature, social stimuli, and nutrient availability—on the regulation of the body’s internal physiological and hormonal systems. This concept recognizes that the external environment acts as a primary controller, issuing ‘commands’ that dictate the expression of genes, the timing of circadian rhythms, and the pulsatile release of key endocrine hormones. It is a core principle of chronobiology and epigenetics.
