Energy System Efficiency

Meaning

The physiological measure of how effectively the body converts metabolic substrates (carbohydrates, fats) into usable cellular energy, primarily in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). High efficiency means the body can produce maximal energy with minimal metabolic waste, leading to improved physical stamina, cognitive clarity, and reduced oxidative stress. Diminished efficiency is a hallmark of metabolic dysfunction and age-related fatigue. Optimizing this system is central to anti-aging and performance medicine.
