Energetic Stress

Meaning

Energetic Stress is a state of cellular imbalance defined by a chronic discrepancy between the metabolic demand of the organism and the mitochondrial capacity to generate adequate adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the cell’s primary energy currency. This physiological condition is highly relevant in hormonal health, as it significantly impacts the function of energy-intensive endocrine organs, such as the thyroid and adrenal glands, and diminishes cellular responsiveness to hormone signals. Prolonged energetic stress can precipitate systemic fatigue, impair cognitive function, and contribute to the dysregulation of the HPA axis.
