Energetic Capacity

Meaning

Energetic capacity defines the physiological ability of an organism to generate and expend adenosine triphosphate, ATP, the primary cellular energy currency, necessary for maintaining all biological processes and physical activity. This fundamental metabolic capability dictates the extent to which an individual can sustain function, adapt to stressors, and recover from exertion. It represents the total available energy reserves and the efficiency with which these reserves can be mobilized and utilized by tissues and organs.
