Endoxifen

Meaning

Endoxifen is the principal and most pharmacologically potent metabolite of the selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) Tamoxifen, which is widely used in the treatment and prevention of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer. It possesses a significantly higher binding affinity for the estrogen receptor compared to its parent compound, making it the primary molecule responsible for the drug’s therapeutic efficacy. Clinical response to Tamoxifen therapy is highly dependent on an individual’s capacity to metabolize the drug into this active form.
