Endotoxin Testing

Meaning

A specialized laboratory procedure used to detect and quantify the presence of endotoxins, which are lipopolysaccharides (LPS) derived from the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. In the context of hormonal health, this testing is often employed to assess the integrity of the gut barrier and the degree of systemic inflammation caused by bacterial translocation from the intestine. Elevated endotoxin levels can signal significant metabolic and endocrine disruption.
