Endothelial Proliferation

Meaning

Endothelial proliferation is the biological process of new cell growth and multiplication within the endothelium, the thin, vital layer of cells lining the interior surface of all blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. This controlled proliferation is a crucial component of angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, and is vital for tissue repair, wound healing, and maintaining adequate circulatory function. Dysregulated proliferation, however, can contribute to pathological states such as tumor growth or vascular plaque formation. Maintaining healthy endothelial function is a key pillar of cardiovascular longevity.
