Endothelial Inflammation

Meaning

Endothelial inflammation refers to the activation and dysfunction of the endothelial cells that form the inner lining of blood vessels. This state involves a shift from a protective, anti-inflammatory, and anticoagulant phenotype to one that is pro-inflammatory, pro-thrombotic, and adhesive. It represents an initial and critical step in the development of various vascular pathologies.
