Endometriosis Pain

Meaning

Endometriosis pain is the chronic, often debilitating pelvic discomfort experienced by individuals with endometriosis, a gynecological condition where endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus. This pain manifests in various forms, including severe dysmenorrhea (painful periods), chronic non-menstrual pelvic pain, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), and discomfort during bowel movements or urination. The severity of the pain does not always correlate with the extent of the lesions, highlighting the complex neuro-inflammatory component of this clinical presentation. Effective management requires a comprehensive approach addressing both the ectopic tissue and the centralized pain signaling.
