Endogenous Hormone Recovery

Meaning

Endogenous hormone recovery refers to the physiological process where the body’s inherent capacity to produce its own hormones is restored following a period of suppression. This suppression often results from exogenous hormone administration, which signals the endocrine system to reduce or cease its natural output. The aim is to reactivate the intricate feedback loops, such as the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis or the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, allowing the glands to resume autonomous hormone synthesis.
