Endogenous Hormone Output

Meaning

This term refers to the total quantity of hormones naturally synthesized and secreted by an individual’s own endocrine glands, such as the testes, ovaries, adrenal glands, and thyroid. It represents the body’s native, internal production capacity, distinct from any hormones introduced exogenously through therapy or supplementation. Measuring and evaluating this output is fundamental in endocrinology, as it reveals the functional status of the glandular tissues and the integrity of the upstream pituitary and hypothalamic signaling. The endogenous output is the foundation upon which all hormonal balance rests.
