Endogenous Feedback Loops

Meaning

Endogenous feedback loops are the intrinsic, self-regulating communication circuits within the endocrine system that continuously monitor and adjust hormone secretion to maintain physiological balance, or homeostasis. These loops operate without external intervention, employing a complex network of inhibitory (negative) and occasionally stimulatory (positive) signals. They are the essential mechanisms by which the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and peripheral endocrine organs coordinate systemic functions like metabolism and reproduction.
