Endocrinology

Meaning

Endocrinology is the specialized branch of physiology and medicine dedicated to the study of the endocrine system, its constituent glands, and the hormones they produce and secrete. This domain investigates the complex regulatory roles of hormones in growth, metabolism, reproduction, and mood regulation across the lifespan. Clinically, it addresses disorders arising from hypo- or hyper-secretion or impaired hormone action. It provides the scientific underpinning for understanding systemic hormonal balance.
