Endocrine System Suppression

Meaning

The intentional or unintentional inhibition of hormone production or release by an endocrine gland, often as a result of pharmacological intervention or pathological negative feedback. This suppression leads to a measurable decrease in circulating levels of specific hormones, which can be a desired therapeutic effect or an unwanted side effect. A classic example is the suppression of endogenous testosterone production following exogenous androgen administration.
