Endocrine System Strain

Meaning

Endocrine System Strain refers to a state of chronic functional overload or dysregulation across one or more endocrine axes, resulting from prolonged exposure to physical, psychological, or environmental stressors. This strain is characterized by an initial hyper-responsiveness, often seen as elevated cortisol or thyroid stimulating hormone, which can progress to hypo-responsiveness and hormonal fatigue if the stressor is not mitigated. It is a precursor to overt endocrine pathology, reflecting the system’s diminished capacity to maintain allostasis.
