Endocrine Disruptions

Meaning

Endocrine Disruptions refer to disturbances caused by exogenous chemicals or substances that interfere with the synthesis, secretion, transport, binding, action, or elimination of natural hormones in the body. These substances, often termed endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), can mimic or block the actions of hormones, or otherwise alter hormonal signaling, leading to adverse health outcomes. Their impact extends across various physiological systems, altering normal biological processes regulated by the endocrine system.
