Endocrine Disrupting Stressors

Meaning

Endocrine Disrupting Stressors are a class of external agents or internal physiological states that interfere with the synthesis, secretion, transport, binding, action, or elimination of natural hormones in the body. These stressors encompass both exogenous chemicals, known as endocrine-disrupting chemicals or EDCs, and chronic psychological stress which profoundly alters HPA axis and thyroid function. Their impact compromises the intricate homeostatic balance necessary for metabolic, reproductive, and neurocognitive health.
