Endocrine Command Loop

Meaning

The Endocrine Command Loop describes the complex, integrated feedback system that governs the production, release, and regulation of hormones across multiple glands and organs. This loop involves a hierarchical chain of command, typically starting with the hypothalamus, moving to the pituitary gland, and then to a peripheral endocrine gland, such as the thyroid, adrenal, or gonads. The system functions as a continuous self-regulating circuit, where the final hormone output feeds back to the central regulators, adjusting the initial command signal. Disruption at any point in this loop leads to systemic hormonal imbalance.
