Employment Functional Limitations

Meaning

Specific, measurable restrictions in an individual’s physical, cognitive, or psychological capacity that arise directly from a medical condition, such as a chronic hormonal imbalance, and consequently impede their ability to perform the essential duties of their occupation. These functional limitations require objective clinical assessment and clear documentation to determine the necessity for workplace accommodations under applicable disability law. Examples include severe, debilitating fatigue or significant cognitive fog related to endocrine disorders.
