Employment Discrimination Risk

Meaning

Employment Discrimination Risk is defined as the probability of an employer facing legal or regulatory action due to the misuse of an employee’s health information, particularly when that information reveals a physiological status that could be misconstrued as a disability or a financial health liability. In the context of hormonal health, this risk is significantly heightened when data from biometric screenings or health risk assessments—such as a diagnosis of hypogonadism, thyroid disorder, or pre-diabetes—is used, intentionally or unintentionally, to make adverse decisions regarding employment status, compensation, or professional opportunities. The risk is a measure of legal non-compliance.
