Emerging Biomarkers

Meaning

Emerging biomarkers are biological characteristics, measurable and quantifiable, that indicate normal biological processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic intervention, which are currently undergoing validation for their clinical utility. These indicators represent novel discoveries in diagnostic, prognostic, or predictive medicine, offering potential advancements beyond conventional markers. Their identification often stems from advancements in genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic technologies, providing insights into complex physiological states.
