Egg Maturation Trigger

Meaning

The Egg Maturation Trigger is the precise hormonal signal required to finalize the process of oocyte maturation and induce its release from the ovary, a process known as ovulation. Physiologically, this event is characterized by the rapid surge of Luteinizing Hormone, or LH, which marks the critical transition from the follicular to the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. In clinical reproductive practice, this trigger is often mimicked by the therapeutic administration of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, or hCG. This is a non-negotiable step for achieving successful conception.
