Effort Perception Modulation

Meaning

Effort Perception Modulation is the process of altering the subjective experience of physical or mental exertion without necessarily changing the objective physiological load. Within hormonal health, this relates to how stress hormones and motivational signals influence an individual’s perceived difficulty of a task. Effective modulation allows for greater adherence to necessary challenges by altering the affective signal associated with the required work. We seek to decouple the objective physiological cost from the subjective feeling of strain.
