DURATION-1 Study

Meaning

The DURATION-1 Study was a pivotal, long-term randomized clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of exenatide administered once weekly for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This investigation compared the once-weekly formulation of the drug against the twice-daily injection regimen, measuring primary endpoints like changes in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and body weight. The study provided critical evidence supporting the sustained metabolic and glycemic improvements achieved with the long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA). It established a foundation for extended-release pharmacological interventions in endocrinology.
